norse mythology that inspires us

What inspires me about Norse mythology is not only the gods or the battles, but the mindset behind the stories. In the old tales of the Poetic Edda, strength is never just about victory. It is about discipline, sacrifice, and continuing forward even when the outcome is uncertain.

Odin is perhaps the strongest example of this. In the Hávamál, he sacrifices himself by hanging wounded from Yggdrasil for nine nights in search of wisdom and knowledge. There is no easy path, only patience end resiliance. That idea reflects the reality of training. Real progress is not built in a single workout, but through consistency and the willingness to return day after day.

Thor inspires me in a different way. He is not only a god of strength, but a protector against chaos. Throughout the myths, he faces forces greater than himself, including Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent. That struggle feels familiar in sport and fitness: pushing through resistance, testing your limits, and becoming stronger under pressure.

What inspires me most about Norse mythology is that the gods know Ragnarök will eventually come. Yet they still choose to fight. They continue to stand their ground with courage and honor despite knowing the end cannot be avoided. That mentality, discipline is something I also see in training and in everyday life.

At Viking Gym Wear, we try to represent that spirit through our products.
